Traveling to Norway with kids - Day 3
We started the day with my daughter losing a tooth! So, the big question of the day became, what would they Norwegian tooth fairy bring??
After breakfast and getting out the door, we met up with a friend and fellow traveler at Oslo S. Hedda and I are doing a flip flop this summer. I started the summer at Skogfjorden, Concordia´s Norwegian Language Village, followed by Ida´s wedding and then Norway travels. Hedda started with Norway, then Ida´s wedding, followed by working at Skogfjorden!
We met up by the tiger, which is a classic meeting spot in Oslo. Then, from Oslo S, we starting walking up Carl Johans Gate towards the Palace. My daughter was very excited to see the palace! Along the way we stopped at Stortinget to admire the lions. It started to rain pretty hard, so we stopped at a bookstore called Ark to pick up a few Norwegian language books. They were having summer sales, so we were able to get some good books at low prices.
The rain continued, so we decided to stop at the Historic Museum. In my five years of living in Oslo, I had never been. They had a Viking exhibition, which we were excited to see. The kids loved seeing the swords and helmets. We also admired the iron age exhibit with a dog skeleton and lots of arrow heads, and the more modern climate change exhibition on the main floor. They also loved the gift shop, which had small swords, daggers, cloaks and helmets.
Finally, the rain stopped and we were able to walk up to the palace. We took a stroll through the Queens gardens, admiring the flowers and chasing the birds. It was a fun outing, even though we got wet along the way. In the evening another friend stopped by for dinner at the house and we got ready for our trip to Kongsberg for Ida´s wedding.
