My name is Elizabeth and I am Hovden's new owner. I am so excited to be working with Hovden and building on the amazing foundation that Ingvill has created. First, I'd like to tell you a little about myself.
Growing up, I spent a lot of time with my grandparents. While both American, my grandmother came from a long line of Norwegians while my grandfather came from a long line of Swedes. This means that I grew up with the Norwegian table prayer, lots of visits to the Swedish Institute in Minneapolis, and lefse for every holiday. History, heritage, and family were incredibly important to my grandparents, and they definitely passed that appreciation on to me.
Due to my desire to learn more about my heritage, I began learning Norwegian at the Concordia Language Villages when I was 11 years old. I have now been teaching and facilitating Norwegian courses there for almost 20 years. My love of Norway, Norwegian, history and heritage continue to grow.
When Ingvill approached my sister and I about taking over Hovden, we both got very excited. Gina has been a fashion designer in Seattle and Minneapolis for about 10 years. She is committed to sustainable fashion, supporting small businesses, and working directly with producers to create beautiful, high quality garments. With her know-how, our shared Scandinavian background, and my desire to continue connecting and engaging with the Scandinavian community in the US and abroad, we make quite a team.
I can't wait to get started. Know that we will do our best to stay true to Hovden's core values, while also adding a few touches of our own. Maybe you'll see something related to Gudbrandsdalen or Grasmark in the future. :) I look forward to getting to know you, and to continuing to provide beautiful, well crafted, heritage inspired items!
